BMW Transmission Identification
BMW used two different automatic transmissions on their E46 models for the years 2001-2005, a GM transmission and a ZF transmission. These vehicles used two different driveshafts that can be easily confused. To determine the correct one for your vehicle look at the tag on the side of the transmission for the correct maker.
