Photo of Mercedes E430 4Matic Driveshaft The E430 4Matic was designed by Mercedes Benz starting in model year 1999. It was offered both as a Sedan and a Wagon with an all-wheel drive drivetrain system. This set up gave it an off road advantage and an on road stability in rain and snow conditions. To achieve that Mercedes installed 2 driveshafts and four axles on this W210 chassis. The rear is a long two-piece driveshaft that connects the transmission to the rear differential, and the front is a short one-piece drive shaft that connects the transfer case to the front differential.

Failure of the front drive shaft is common for the E430 4Matic. A vibration during takeoff and at speeds of over 30 mph is very common. The front driveshaft U joints will also show signs of play and rust when they are extremely bad. High quality E430 Drive shaft replacement is crucial for the correct function of this vehicle.
